Volunteer
Volunteers are an essential part of our hospice team! There are essentially two types of volunteer opportunities: Administrative and Direct Patient Visits.
Administrative volunteers serve in our office and fulfill duties such as:
- Filing
- Answering phone calls and returning voicemails
- Answering the door and welcoming guests
- Mailings
- Data entry
Direct patient visits may include:
- Providing companionship
- Light housework
- Reading, playing games, etc.
- Prayer, if desired by the patient or family
- Playing music
In accordance with state and federal regulations, and to ensure our volunteers are well prepared for this important work, ALL volunteers are onboarded much the same way as staff. This will include:
- Submit an application.
- Interview
- Background check
- TB test and drug screen
- Annual Proof of flu vaccination
- OR acceptable medical/religious exemption
- Confidentiality agreement
- Copy of driver’s license
- Copy of auto insurance card and Declaration page
- 12 hours orientation
- 4 hours in-person orientation
- 8 hours remote online learning
- 20 hours continuing education annually
- Combination of in-person, online, and other media resources
All volunteers must have access to email and some proficiency using a computer and mobile phone.
